Quelques conseils pour préparer votre voyage, particulièrement pour ceux qui ne se sont jamais rendus dans le Vaucluse en été.
Cadeaux
Votre présence sera le plus beau cadeau à nous faire. Pour celles et ceux qui voudraient nous offrir quelque chose, rappelez vous que nous vivons dans un petit appartement à San Francisco et que nous apprécions aussi toute contribution monétaire à notre futur voyage ou à notre avenir en général. Une urne sera disposée le jour de notre mariage.
Climat et Météo
Il fait chaud dans le sud en été ! Sans pouvoir prévoir l'avenir, la météo le même jour en 2016 était très chaude: 34°C max. et 19°C min. Il est improbable qu'il pleuve, mais ne sait-on jamais ! Le vent froid du nord, le Mistral, peut également souffler et rendre l'air frais.
Vêtements
Tous les événéments durant le weekend sont informels: veuillez vous sentir libres de vous habiller confortablement et comme bon vous semble ! Nous vous conseillons d'amener des vêtements légers en complément des vêtements de cérémonie si le temps est chaud. N'oubliez pas s'il vous plaît d'amener un maillot de bain et votre serviette pour la piscine — même si vous ne prévoyez pas de vous baigner nous vous recommandons de prévoir un maillot au cas où le temps soit très chaud et vous changez d'avis.
Langages
À l'exception de la cérémonie républicaine à la Mairie, la majorité des événéments du weekend seront tenus en français et en anglais. Si vous parlez déjà anglais ou avez envie de vous y confronter, faites le savoir !
Parking
Il y aura un parking à la maison des Hugues. Pour vous rendre à la Mairie, visible sur cette carte, nous recommandons d'utiliser un des parkings proches. Le plus grand est le Parking du Portalet, marqué ① sur la carte. Si le Parking du Portalet est plein, le Parking du Lycée est une bonne alternative marquée ② sur la carte. Le Parking des Nevons marqué ③ sur la carte est la dernière alternative un peu plus lointaine (mais la ville reste relativement petite) à 15 min de marche de la Mairie.

Gifts
Your presence is the greatest gift you can give to us, if you can make the trip to France for the wedding. For those who wish to send us gifts, please remember that we live in a small apartment in San Francisco with very little storage space, so monetary contributions to our future in lieu of physical gifts are greatly appreciated. There will be an urn at the wedding where you can drop money and/or cards.
Weather and Climate
The South of France is quite warm; this is why it's such a popular tourist destination. While we can't predict the future, the weather on the same day last year was extremely warm: 93°F (34°C) was the high, and the low was 66°F (19°C). Although it would be very unusual for there to be rain this time of year, you never know. The region is also famous for its mistral, the cool wind that arrives at unpredictable times from the north, and which has the potential to cool down a warm day.
Clothing
All of the events during the entire weekend are informal: please feel free to dress in whatever way makes you comfortable. In addition to whatever you plan to wear to the ceremonies, please bring light clothes for hot weather. Please don't forget to bring a swimsuit and towel for the pool party — even if you don't plan to go in the pool, better to come prepared just in case the weather is so hot that you change your mind.
Language
With the exception of the legal wedding ceremony at the Mairie, the majority of the events during the weekend will be bilingual French/English. However, we will be in France, and knowing a bit of French will only help you enjoy your trip more. For those that are interested, the first several lessons in the DuoLingo program will help you learn common French words that you are bound to encounter on the trip. Even if you don't remember how to say them when you get to France, just being able to recognize them on menus, signs, etc. will be useful and rewarding. You can practice on their website, and they also have Android, iOS, and Windows Phone apps.
Parking
Parking at the Hugues residence will be available on-site. To get to the City Hall, labeled Mairie on this map, we recommend parking in a paid lot nearby. The largest and best option is the Parking du Portalet, which can be found on the map, labeled ①. If the Parking du Portalet gets crowded, then the Parking du Lycée is a good backup option, and is labeled ② on the map. The last alternative if everything else has failed is the Parking des Nevons, labeled ③ on the map. It's a little further, but still under 15 min walking distance from the Mairie.
Driving and GPS
If you rent a car and are unfamiliar with the South of France, it can be useful to splurge and get an integrated GPS system. Many of the most beautiful places are accessible via unmarked roads, and cellular service can be spotty so you can't always count on Google Maps on your phone, but the GPS systems that come with rental cars work very well in the region. Note: Right turns on a red light are illegal in France!
